Last-time out winner Smooth Talking is entitled to be favourite for the nursery at 13:40, but the son of Aclaim will need to improve on his recent victory, as he looks to defy a 6lb rise, and he could prove to be vulnerable to a more attractively handicapped rival. One worth taking a chance on is the David O'Meara-trained STROMBOLI. who is yet to get his head in front, but has shaped with promise at times and is over-priced at double-figured odds. He disappointed in a Nottingham nursery last time out off a mark of 73, but he's been dropped 2lb for today's assignment, and with the quicker ground likely to play to his strengths then he could bounce back to form. That Nottingham outing came in rain-softened ground, so the firmer surface today could be the making of him.

14:15 Redcar

It could prove to be a profitable afternoon for the O'Meara yard as they can land the 14:15 prize with the top-weighted SAFRAN, who is back to his last winning mark and can strike gold on Tuesday afternoon. The four-year-old has been shaping well of late with a brace of third placed finishes at Ripon, and having been dropped 1lb by the handicapper he's been given a golden opportunity to get his nose back in front. His last success came at Deauville off a mark of 82, and running off that same figure today he can notch up a third career win.

14:45 Redcar

Oliver Greenall's SUCELLUS has already tasted victory in September, and the in-form five-year-old will look to notch up another success this month by landing the prize in the 14:45 event at Redcar. Carrying bottom weight in the event, Sucellus has a superb chance of notching back-to-back wins as he teams up with Megan Nicholls, who piloted him to victory at Haydock two weeks ago. That win came off a mark of 73 and he takes his chance off 75 today, so stands a great chance of returning to the winner's enclosure if he can find a little more. He got his head in front late on that day, so he has more to offer and having been rated 90 earlier in his career then he's more than capable of scoring today.
