Today's Horse Racing Tips: Three selections at Bath on Wednesday
Seven races take place at Bath on Wednesday afternoon and our in-house tipster Steve Chambers has picked out three selections for the Flat action...
Bath Tips
14:10 Bath
Roger Teal's Chipstead relished the drop back to five furlongs last time out at Bath, as the son of Mayson scooted to a two-length success and he will look to emulate that success on Wednesday over the same course and distance. Given a 6lb rise by the handicapper for that impressive display, Chipstead shaped like there could be more to come over the minimum distance, and having taken a real shine to Bath then he will enjoy a return to that venue today, and he looks to be the one to beat in today's opening event at 14:10.
15:10 Bath
Marcus Tregoning's Artemis Sky has been knocking on the door of late, but still heads into Bath's 15:10 contest as a maiden, and it could be worth bypassing that charge again today with the Richard Hannon-trained Tajdid, who could well recapture the winning thread having been dropped a 2lb by the handicapper. A winner at Salisbury earlier in the season off a mark of 60, Tajdid failed to follow up off a mark of 65 when seen next time out at Bath (fourth), while he could only finish fifth on his last start at Salisbury. However, he's been dropped to a mark of 63 for today's event, and having had wind surgery from his last visit to the track Hannon's raider could well bounce back to form with aplomb and looks the value play in a trappy betting heat.
15:40 Bath
Rae Guest's Squelch will have the burden of top weight in the 15:40 at Bath, but the five-year-old mare is more than capable of landing this competitive event, if building on a decent run at Brighton last time out. Shaping with real promise on the south coast, Squelch ran a very creditable third off a mark of 80, and she will line up off that same mark this afternoon. She showed she can get her head in front last season when she racked up a trio of wins on the bounce - with the last one of those coming off a mark of 76 - so if she can just find some improvement on that effort then she could be well handicapped to go in again.
