Today's Horse Racing Tips: Three tips for Catterick on Wednesday
Our in-house tipster Steve Chambers heads to Catterick on Wednesday afternoon, and picks out his three best bets on the eight-race Flat card...
Catterick Tips
14:20 Catterick
Paul Midgley's Texas Man and Kevin Ryan's Bloomington Bride are prominent figures in the betting for the 14:20 at Catterick, while last time out winner Just A Claim is another leading player for Roger Fell, but there could be value elsewhere in a competitive nursery event.
Adrian Keatley's AYLING has been struggling of late to land any sort of blow at this level, but having been dropped by the handicapper for a disappointing run at Ayr, the son of Adaay looks on an attractive mark to go very close. As big as 20/1, at the time of writing, Ayling will not only benefit from a drop down to a mark of 68, but Ryan Sexton will take 7lbs off his back, so he has to have a chance. Earlier in his career he finished a creditable second in a Ripon nursery off a mark of 69, so if he can recapture that form then he can at least make the frame.
15:20 Catterick
A winner at Lingfield off a mark of 54, Hughie Morrison's SCHEHERAZADE will aim to return to winning ways off a 2lb higher mark on Wednesday afternoon in a wide open renewal of the 15:20 at Catterick. Having disappointed at Windsor and back at Lingfield on her next two starts, she showed signs of returning to form when fourth at Wolverhampton last time out.
That effort came off a mark of 56, and she was staying on all the way to the finish that day, so if jockey Jason Watson can get her in a more prominent position as they head into the final furlongs of the race then Scheherazade can land a significant blow and claim her second win of the season.
15:50 Catterick
Tim Easterby's Naughty Ana will look to make the most of stall one in the 15:50 contest, and the course and distance second will look to go one better and finally break her maiden tag at the 13th time of asking. But, having failed to get her head in front in her career then she could be worth taking on with a potentially progressive rival, and one that fits that bill is the Ann Duffield-trained Miss Behaving.
A thrice-raced three-year-old, MISS BEHAVING has also been unable to get her head in front yet, but she showed real positive signs when second at Redcar last time out, and making her handicap debut today she can strike gold. Handed a mark of 60, she looks unexposed for today's event, and if she can just improve on that recent Redcar run then she can prove to have too much for her rivals.
