Today's Racing Tips: Bets from Ascot, York & Newmarket

There are four bets for today’s racing at York, Ascot and Newmarket.

York Tip

14:40 – 6f Sky Bet Dash Handicap (Class 2)

STREAMLINE (NAP – 1 point win bet at 10/1) was a very smart two-year-old and won three of his four starts. One of those came in Group 3 company with his only defeat coming by one-length in a hot Listed race over five furlongs here at York. He was then forced to miss his three-year-old campaign and took four attempts to get back in the winners’ enclosure this year. That came at Wolverhampton, where he beat the subsequent Group 3 winner Summerghand. His recent run at Newcastle came after a 91-day break, so he likely to have come on for that and holds strong claims today. This will be just his 11th career start and he still gives the impression that he has not yet reached his full potential.

Ascot Tips

15:00 – 7f Moet & Chandon International Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2)

STAR OF ORION (1 point win bet at 7/1) showed some decent juvenile form last season and ended the year with a short head defeat at the Curragh before being beaten by just three-lengths in a Newbury Group 3 contest. Well beaten on his seasonal reappearance in the Britannia Handicap here at Ascot, he improved significantly to win eased down at Newmarket last Saturday. A stiff seven furlongs looks ideal and he appears to handle any ground. There hasn’t been a three-year-old winner in the last ten renewals of this race but only 21 have attempted it. The 7lb weight-for-age allowance will be an advantage, as will the draw in stall 15 and the 5lb claim of jockey Laura Pearson.

Nine of the last ten winners of this race have come from a double-figure draw, so I’m also taking a chance on DANCE FEVER (0.5 point win bet at 14/1), who won at Leicester last time out. That too came after being well beaten on his seasonal reappearance at Royal Ascot, but he now has an overall record of 4-7 and represents the in-form Clive Cox team. This son of Sir Prancealot should be fully tuned up for this and connections will be hoping that the ground remains on the quick side.

Newmarket Tip

17:20 – 6f MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap (Class 3)

With Newmarket now likely to miss most of the rain, ONE NIGHT STAND (1 point win bet at 8/1) should encounter his optimum conditions. Having been well beaten on his first start of the year at Ascot, he ran out a commanding 4.5-length winner at Nottingham on his next start. That was a hugely impressive performance and confirmed his liking for a quick surface. A line can be put through his run at Ascot two weeks ago as it came on a softer surface, and he can bounce back today with the in-form Kieran Shoemark in the saddle.
