Today's Racing Tips: An evening bet at Chelmsford

I knew from a very early stage that yesterday’s selection wouldn’t win! Having been rousted along leaving the stalls, Urban Artist never looked to be travelling comfortably and finished a well beaten eighth despite making some late headway. It is one of the most frustrating things as a tipster to not get a run for your money after putting in hours of work and making a strong case for a horse.
There is one bet for today’s racing at Chelmsford. Fingers crossed…

20:00 – 1m tote.co.uk Now Never Beaten By SP Handicap (Class 3)
This looks a really good opportunity for the well-bred MONTATHER (NAP – 1 point win bet at 11/4) to take advantage of a drop in class and return to winning ways. Well beaten in the 26 runner Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket when last seen, he now returns to the All Weather to defend his unbeaten record at Chelmsford having won both previous races here. The first came over today’s one mile distance on his racecourse debut last season and he followed up on his 2021 seasonal reappearance back in July. That came in Class 2 company over ten furlongs and confirmed the promise he showed when scoring by a commanding 4½-lengths at Thirsk on his final start of 2020. A handicap mark of 95 still looks fair and he should get a decent pace to aim at in this race. Dane O’Neill should be able to settle him in a good position from stall 2 and is likely to make his challenge off the home turn. As long as he keeps within striking distance of the leaders, he will have every chance of pouncing late, especially as he has proven stamina over further. With the jockey’s title battle in full swing, the mounts of Oisin Murphy (Dubai Icon) and William Buick (Far Hope) can’t be discounted. Animal Instinct could also outrun his odds.
