Between them, these twelve runners have won just eight of the 182 races they have contested. Therefore, it shouldn’t take anything too special to win today’s ten-furlong handicap. The most likely candidate looks to be DOONBEG FARMER (NAP – 1 point win bet at 7/2), who finished second over 1m1f here last week. Although he is still a maiden, that was just his fourth run on turf, and at just three-years-old, he remains open to some improvement. The step back up in trip should suit and there will be no issue with the ground conditions. The winner of last week’s race bolted up again on Monday and my selection lines up off the same handicap mark here. The fact that he pulled eight-lengths clear of the third placed horse is encouraging, and jockey Ellie MacKenzie keeps the ride. The 5lb claimer has an excellent record at Lingfield with five wins from her 12 rides at the course (42% strike rate). Stall six could be ideal for this hold up performer, and he is likely to get a good pace to aim at. Productive, second at Brighton last time out, is the biggest danger.
