World Racing Guide: Tips at Happy Valley, Gulfstream & Fairview

With the racing in the UK, Ireland and surrounding regions cancelled due to the outbreak of coronavirus, we've taken a look at the meetings that are still going ahead around the world, and picked out our best bets...

Fairview (South Africa)

Fairview hosts an eight-race card on Wednesday, which gets underway at 11:00am (GMT), and you can watch all of the action live on Sky Sports Racing. There are several interesting contests in the card, including the opening fillies' and mares' maiden plate over six furlongs (11:00), for which All The Stars is likely to be a short-priced favourite. The three-year-old is popular for this courtesy of a fine effort to finish second over course and distance on just her second outing last time out, and while she'll likely go close here, her price feels rather short, and it could be worth taking her on with the more experienced Hollywood Thunder. She's had 10 runs so far, and has been holding her form really well of late, finishing second on each of her last five starts. While her will to win has to perhaps be taken on trust as a consequence, the pair are very closely matched on form, and Hollywood Thunder can pick up a deserved success.

Another three-year-old who's likely to be a short price is Lady Of Choice (11:30), who runs in the second race on the card. Like the opening contest, this is also a fillies' and mares' maiden, and Lady Of Choice is an odds-on favourite at the time of writing, having hit the frame here the last twice. However, there's little to separate her with her main market rival Salvadora, who looks the one to side with at the prices having posted some solid efforts here so far this year. 

One market leader who looks to have strong claims is Captain's Princess (13:30). The four-year-old produced a really strong effort to finish second over ever so slightly shorter here at the beginning of March, and she looks primed to return to winning ways under a 4 lb rise.

Happy Valley (Hong Kong)

Happy Valley hosts an eight-race card over in Hong Kong, which you can watch live on Sky Sports Racing. The action begins at 11:15, and punters can get off to a good start by siding with the favourite Galaxy Racer. This is one of the poorest races you'll see for some time - with no horse having a higher official rating than 40 - but Galaxy Racer will carry top weight here after creditable efforts to place the last twice. That looks the strongest form on offer, and he can open his account at the tenth attempt. 

Another who catches the eye is the three-year-old Super Alliances (13:15). Admittedly, he arrives here on the back of a poor effort over course and distance last time out, but he'd produced two really solid efforts to finish second here prior to that, and his current mark doesn't look to be beyond him. Receiving a handy age allowance here, he can strike under Australian rider Chad Schofield. 

Last but not least, it's difficult to look past Green Reign (14:50), who can close the card as a winning favourite for punters. The four-year-old has been shaping really well of late, finishing second in two of his last three starts, and looks to be weighted to strike at present. He had the benefit of the services of top jockey Joao Moreira this afternoon, and from a handy draw, he can open his account at the sixth time of asking.

Gulfstream Park (United States)

There's still some action to follow stateside, including 10 races at Gulfstream Park in Florida, which you can watch live on Sky Sports Racing. The action gets underway at 17:00, though one who catches the eye is No Se Vende, who takes her chance in the third race on the card (18:00). Cory Gal is likely to be a warm order for this on her first start for a new yard having finished second last time out, though she's well-found in the market, and No Se Vende could offer some value. A winner over five furlongs, she boasts plenty of speed, and produced one of her stronger efforts to finish second here last July on her sole start over this trip to date. She's been shaping reasonably well of late, and it would be no surprise to see her go close in what's likely to turn into a rather trappy affair.
