Aintree is perhaps one of the most famous racecourses in the world, based just six miles away from Liverpool City Centre.
The national hunt track hosts the Grand National, known as the most demanding steeplechase course in the world which takes place annually in April. As well as the Grand National the course is also used for six additional race days throughout the racing calendar.
The course has not only been used for horse racing it has hosted diverse events such as music concerts; the most famous of which was when Michael Jackson ending his 1988 Bad tour at the ground which was attended by 125,000 fans. As well as music events it was also used for motor racing and up until 1962 was the venue for the British Grand Prix.
