Horse Racing Tips: Lightning to strike at Newbury
There's a bumper day's racing on Friday as eight fixtures take place across the UK & Ireland, and fresh from picking out a 15/8 winner in yesterday's column we attempt to point you in the right direction of more success today and pick out some of the best bets from our racing tipsters. The action all kicks off at Newbury at 13:00, while there's alternative racing this afternoon at Haydock, Killarney and Nottingham, with Kilbeggan, Newmarket, Hamilton and Pontefract hosting a quartet of evening fixtures.
The feature race of the day comes from Newbury at 15:53 with the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes attracting a stellar cast and the most popular selection amongst our racing tipsters is the Tom Clover-trained Rogue Lightning, who is currently a 2/1 favourite for the contest. An impressive four-and-a-half length winner at Newmarket on debut, the son of Kodiac will attempt to follow up this afternoon and has been tipped by the likes of Whistler from the Sunday Telegraph and Spotlight from the Racing Post.
Karl Hedley from the Irish Post is taking on Rogue Lightning in that contest with the Karl Burke-trained Cold Case, who broke his maiden tag at the second time of asking, and with more experience under his belt then the 11/2 shot could be a notable thorn in the side of the hot favourite for the Clover team.
The most popular nap amongst our racing tipsters runs at Hamilton this evening and the 9/2 chance Snazzy Jazzy has been tipped by four racing writers for the 19:17 contest. Lawrence Mullaney's raider is a course and distance winner and was last seen finishing seventh in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, and the likes of Rory Delargy from The Irish Field and Fortunatus from the Sheffield Star fancy the speedster to build on that effort.
We head to Nottingham for the next popular selection as three tipsters including Lawrence Taylor from Attheraces have napped the 7/2 chance Juan Les Pins, who lines up in the 15:10 event for Mick Appleby, and that charge is bidding for a hat-trick of wins.
Four tipsters in our naps table have notched up two winning selections on the spin and Steve Mullington from 888Sport heads to Haydock's 13:50 contest today and is backing the 8/1 shot Captain Corelli for Julie Camacho, while Glendale from The Scotsman has napped the 5/2 shot Ventura Flame in the 18:47 at Hamilton's evening card.
Jon Freeman from The i also heads north of the border for his nap of the day, as he goes in search of a third win in a row, and Freeman has napped the 6/1 Edward Cornelius, who runs in the 19:17 race, while Marlborough from the Daily Telegraph heads to Newmarket and is napping the John & Thady Gosden-trained Morning Poem, who is 15/8 to win the 19:40 contest.
Table-topper Expert Eye is another heading to Newmarket's evening card, and at Flat HQ Expert Eye is napping the 7/2 chance Voodoo Queen in the 19:40 race, and the Roger Varian-trained contender will look to build on a win at the track last time out and could be a notable rival to the aforementioned Morning Poem from the Gosden yard.
