13:50 York - Sky Bet Race To The Ebor Jorvik Handicap
NOBLE MASQUERADE is the selection in the tricky opener. Global Storm was one I thought would be shorter too and has a good jockey booking but Noble Masquerade has a great record when the yard call upon William Buick with his form figures reading 22111. Finished 2nd on his only run at York previously behind one that won a few times over the jumps over the winter. Buick has a 28% win rate when riding for the yard after 10 winners from 36 rides. Four-year-olds have won this for the last eight years, but before that five-year-olds won seven of the eight renewals, no horse over the age of five has won this since 2006, Noble Masquerade ticks the five-year-old box, has a good racing weight and has a single figure draw which is ideal (only three winners over the last 20 years were drawn in double figure stalls)

14:25 York - Churchill Tyres Handicap
STRIKE RED was a huge eye-catcher at Newmarket on seasonal debut and ran well again last time at the same venue after missing the break. Might well miss the break again, but it wouldn’t be so bad to be out the back early on in what looks like a strong pace early on. Trainer Richard Fahey has won this race twice in the last three years and had one go close in a place the other occasion. Single figure draw is ideal and four-year-olds have won nine of the last 19 renewals

15:00 York - 1895 Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes
HIGHFIELD PRINCESS boasts some good course form finishing third and second on two starts here, both runs being boosted by the winners winning again next time out, the latter winning a Group 1. Ran well in the Champion Sprint at Ascot on only start over six furlongs previously also and John Quinn has had five winners from his last 22 runners and has had five winners from 41 runners in Group races over the last five years which is a decent return for a smaller yard. Five-year-olds have won six of the last 19 renewals and good draw in stall 1.

16:10 York - Paddy Power 'Here For The Craic' Handicap
System has bits of very smart form including beating Guineas winner Cachet last year in a Listed race, not so good lately and I’ve sided with one who has found a winning thread in HA LONG BAY. Two narrow wins in class 6 races this season so far and gone up 11lbs for them, but battled on well and looked like this kind of test would suit and trainer won this last year. Horses down the bottom of the handicap have a good record in this with horses carrying under 9st winning five of the last six runnings.

16:45 York - Conundrum HR Consulting Handicap
TOMMASO is a very interesting runner in this after a handful of very good efforts over hurdles including a win at Doncaster. The booking of Silvestre De Sousa is eye-catching and four-year-olds have won the last six renewals and 11 of the last 19 and a double figure draw is not a bad thing in this judging on previous runnings with eight of the last 11 winners drawn hig.

17:15 York - British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes
Low draw is very helpful here with no horse drawn over stall five having won this since 2011 and coming here with experience is always helpful with 11 of the last 16 winners having experience. MERSEA improved on an eye-catching first effort last time at Beverley when 2nd behind one who has an entry for the Super Sprint at Newbury Saturday. Trainer Grant Tuer had a fantastic season in 2021 ending the season with a 20% win rate from 244 runners and a profit of £43.66 to a £1 win stake if backing them all and had a 26% win rate in April last year and three winners from 17 runners at York and has the ammo to build on that this season.
