Today's Horse Racing Tips: Three bets for Sedgefield on Friday

13:20 Sedgefield

Brian Ellison's SON OF THE SOMME shaped with real promise when finishing second at Doncaster on his handicap debut, and the seven-year-old can kick on from that fine run and claim victory in the 13:20 at Sedgefield on Friday afternoon. He's been handed a 6lbs rise for that Doncaster performance, which is a little harsh, but he still looks to have the potential to strike off a mark of 95, and having stayed on eye-catchingly well on Town Moor on his first start of the season, then he can go one better here.

13:50 Sedgefield

There's a hugely competitive handicap hurdle at 13:50 and several of the contenders have found it hard to get their head in front in recent times, but one that has tasted victory recently and can follow up is the Keith Dalgleish's THREE CASTLES, who looks a solid bet on Friday afternoon. A multiple winner on the Flat, the son of Zoffany took three attempts to claim his first win over hurdles, but he was an eye-catching three-length winner at Musselburgh last time out, and he shaped like there's more to come. Given a 6lbs rise for that run, Dalgleish's charge can still do the business of 97, and is the one to back in a trappy heat.

14:20 Sedgefield

Another in-form performer is the Sam Thomas-trained GALILEO SILVER, who has racked up a brace of wins this season, and he can duly land the hat-trick in the 14:20 at Sedgefield. A runaway 16-length winner at Huntingdon on Boxing Day, the seven-year-old has been given a notable 9lbs for his recent success at Christmas, but he still looks potentially ahead of a mark of 124, and he can defy top weight in today's contest. The King Of May and Road Warrior are notable adversaries, but it's Galileo Silver that can strike gold.
