Today's Horse Racing Tips: Raise You a bet at Leopardstown

It looked like it was going to be another frustrating afternoon when Dreamloper (advised at 11/4) finished a very close second in the opening race at Ascot yesterday, but River Nymph (advised at 12/1) ensured that the day ended on a high by winning the Victoria Cup.
My Fitbit heart rate tracker made for interesting viewing as the racing coincided with one of the most stressful games of football I have ever watched. Luckily, my beloved Derby County retained their Championship status with a 3-3 draw against Sheffield Wednesday and a late goal for Cardiff against Rotherham. Derby fully deserve to have been relegated this season, but luckily there were three teams that were even worse (just).
There are three bets for today’s racing at Leopardstown.
Leopardstown Tips
14:15 – 1m Amethyst Stakes (Group 3)
All eyes will be on Ace Aussie given that he chased home the subsequent 2000 Guineas winner Poetic Flare over seven furlongs here last time out. However, at the prices, I am prepared to take him on as this looks a wide-open Group 3 contest. Joseph O’Brien saddles three runners and I like the look of two of those. RAISE YOU (1 point win bet at 5/1) has plenty of form at Listed/Group 3 level and made a winning seasonal reappearance in a handicap at the Curragh last month. The forecast rain will be in his favour and he holds a Group 1 entry.
I’m also of the opinion that the outsider SNAPRAETEREA (0.5 point win bet at 16/1) can’t be discounted and he is sure to have come on for his run behind Poetic Flare and Ace Aussie last time out. He has some very smart two-year-old form in the book including close finishes behind the high-class colts and leading Classic contenders Mac Swiney and High Definition.

14:45 – 1m Irish 1000 Guineas Trial (Group 3)
With most of these runners already looking a little exposed at this level, it may be worth siding with one of the two unbeaten fillies in the line up. Of those, slight preference is for ACANELLA (NAP – 1 point win bet at 5/1), who is sure to have come on plenty for her racecourse debut last month. That came in a maiden over this course and distance and saw her comfortably justify favouritism to confirm the promise that she has reportedly shown connections in her work at home. By Dansili and with plenty of class in the dam’s pedigree, this Juddmonte-bred three-year-old should be well suited by the slight easing of the ground and can handle this step up in class.
