Today's Horse Racing Tips: Ambassador one of four bets at Nottingham on Tuesday

17:50 – 1m½f Racing TV Extra Nursery Handicap (Class 5)

William Buick has a good book of rides at Nottingham tonight, including the two-year-old filly MADAME AMBASSADOR (NAP – 1 point win bet at 13/2). Beaten by just a neck on her racecourse debut at Haydock, she has since finished second at Leicester and third at Kempton. On each occasion, she has shaped as though this step up in trip would be necessary in order for her to record a first career success. That is also backed up by her stamina laden pedigree featuring plenty of winners over 1m2f+. Out of a German Group 1 winner and sired by the dual Classic winner Churchill, this beautifully bred type can land this race before going on to better things as she goes up further in distance. Mark Johnston’s has a decent strike-rate with handicap debutants and his representative is the one to beat. On The River, an easy winner at Musselburgh four days ago, can chase home the selection under a penalty.

18:20 – 1m½f Pete Williams Aka Henry Memorial Fillies’ Handicap (Class 5)

Martyn Meade is another trainer that does well with handicap debutants, and this race looks a really good opportunity for his Galileo filly CAMBRIDGESHIRE (1 point win bet at 5/2) to get off the mark. Closely related to the Group 1 winner Dick Whittington, this 150,000gns yearling ran well in her first two starts before disappointing at Newmarket last time out. The step back up to a mile will suit her, and she remains open to plenty of improvement off an opening mark of 70, which is aided by a 7lb weight-for-age allowance.

19:20 – 1m2f nationalracehorseweek.uk Handicap (Class 6)

Lady Ziana should go well again but slight preference is for TWILLEY (1 point win bet at 13/2), who has a 9lb swing in the weights compared to when they last met over this course and distance back in June. The selection finished a couple of lengths behind Lady Ziana that day but can reverse the form today in first time cheekpieces. The winner of that race has won all three starts since, so the form looks rock solid. The step back up to ten furlongs is in her favour and she is well drawn in stall four for a horse that likes to race prominently. Trainer Michael Appleby has an impressive 27% strike rate with his runners in three-year-old handicaps at the course since 2017, including 2-5 this year. His Nathaniel filly went close off a mark of 54 on her seasonal reappearance in May and has had excuses for a couple of her defeats since. The drop down to a mark of 49 in addition to the 7lb claim of jockey Erika Parkinson should be enough to break her maiden tag. Parkinson has ridden 11 winners in her career so far including one for Appleby at this course recently.

20:20 – 6f Watch Irish Racing On RacingTV Handicap (Class 4)

The recent Doncaster winner Boogie Time will be popular with punters, but I am siding with the top weight ASADJUMEIRAH (1 point win bet at 11/4), who was a winner over this course and distance two starts back. Out of a speedy Listed winning mare, this three-year-old colt cost connections £210,000 as a yearling and is a half brother to a Group 2 winner. The ground may have been a little quick when he was a beaten favourite at Ffos Las two weeks ago, so conditions should be more suitable today.
