What is the Racing League? All You need to know here
With over £2m in prize money on offer over the next few weeks, The Racing League is sure to provide some hugely competitive racing at a number of tracks and we take a look at all the information you need to know for the 2022 event, which kicks off at Doncaster on Thursday evening in front of the ITV and Sky Sports Racing cameras...
First held last year, The Racing League is looking to grow significantly this year and yet again it will attract all the leading trainers and jockeys to compete over a number of weeks of action, but how does it all work?
Well, the 2022 edition will see seven teams consisting of Ireland, London & The South, Scotland, The East, The North, Wales & The West and Yorkshire all battling it out for points over the coming weeks, as 42 races take place across six fixtures within the 2022 Racing League.
Each race will have 14 runners, so two horses from each team will line up and points will be distributed according to your finish. Winners of the race will amass 25 points, while points will go all the way down to tenth place, with one point be awarded to the tenth horse past the post.
A group of trainers representing their region will provide the horses for the race, while the seven jockeys for each team will ride exclusively for that team throughout the competition, and one team manager will decide which horse lines up.
With 3yo+ races and 2yo races taking place throughout the event over a number of different trips, there will be significant prize money available with £50k on offer for the 3yo+ races, while the 2yo events will see a purse of £25k available, which will be paid to the owners/trainers/jockeys.
