Galway Major Races
The Galway Festival is a seven-day summer festival held at the end of July and it is the longest (in duration) race meeting held in either the United Kingdom or Ireland.
Galway 2024 comes between 29th July - 4th August and the weather looks to be smiling on racegoers.
The Galway Festival is unique in that it is a cross code event, bringing together both the jumps and the flat
Two of the standout races of the festival are the Guinness Galway Handicap Hurdle which is a Grade A race that has a purse of over €130,000 and the Galway Plate which is a handicap chase with a purse of over €100,000 on offer.

Galway Betting Odds

The racecourse at Galway Races is located on the outskirts of Galway city, in the West of Ireland. The course is a right handed track that is 1 mile and 2 furlongs with an uphill finish of 2 furlongs. The track consists of 6 hurdle and 7 fences and holds both flat and national hunt racing.
The racecourse holds 12 race meetings per year. There is a draw advantage (a very slight one) for low numbers in races of 7 furlongs in duration.
The top jockeys that have raced here at Galway over the last few seasons include the flat champion jockey Colin Keane and Kevin Manning. The top trainers here are Dermot Weld, Aidan O’Brien and Willie Mullins.
