Jack Richards Novices' Handicap Chase Tips
Although trends are non existent for this race given it was newly introduced in 2025, the previous iteration of the novices' handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival saw Henry de Bromhead often run a smart horse, most notably future Gold Cup hero A Plus Tard. Although he has been disappointing since his Supreme success, one suspects this could've been the season long plan for SLADE STEEL and with double figure odds still available to back this 2024 Festival winner, he rates the best Cheltenham Tip at this stage.

About the Jack Richards Novices' Handicap Chase
2025 is the first season the Jack Richards Novices' Handicap Chase will take place at the Cheltenham Festival, with the race replacing the Golden Miller (lastly sponsored by Turners) Novices' Chase over the intermediate trip. The BHA removed that race and inserted this novice handicap in the hope of revitalising both the Arkle over 2 miles and the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase over three miles.
Whoever won the race in 2025 was set to be the inaugural winner of the Jack Richards with it being a new race for the Festival, and after a big gamble it was CALDWELL POTTER for Nicholls and Cobden who landed the odds, always controlling the race from the front end.
